This gorgeous water-clear Herkimer Diamond was mined by me at the Ace of Diamonds Mine in Middleville, NY. This crystal has two tiny key marks and two extra faces. It has a few tiny anthraxolite and a few small bubble-like inclusions. There is some slight internal fracturing. There are various attachment marks with barely any carbon.
21x12x10mm 16 carats/3.2 grams
P.S. My grading system is subjective and I do not claim to be an expert. I take an average of everything I have seen online and what I experienced in person at the Middleville mines. This one I believe to be high B/low A grade. I love key marks and do not think that they really hurt the grade but I do consider it somewhat anyways. And since I am new to this, if there is anything you think I missed or got wrong in the listing or once you receive the package, please let me know so that I can adjust for the future!
I WILL BE OUT OF TOWN FROM DECEMBER 10-13TH. IF PURCHASED I WILL SHIP ON DECEMBER 14TH. SORRY AND THANKS!
First off, pretty clever and cheesy name right!? ;) I just got into finding these gorgeous crystals in the summer of 2017 and have become absolutely obsessed by their majestic-ness! I even found myself renting an AirBnB for three weeks outside of Herkimer, NY in October 2017 so I could go and smash rocks and dig through the dirt every day to deal with my new obsession. I have been giving them out to friends and family left and right and everybody (even those with no prior connection to gem collecting) seems to be completely enamored with their gifts. My sister convinced me that I should try to share some of my collection with the world by selling them online. She insisted that if I could sell enough, I would have a way to fund my new favorite hobby once the mining season opens back up. Maybe someday it could become more than a hobby! We will have to see.
I have hunted the internet and even some gem shows to find the average prices so that I could try to beat them and offer super reasonable deals for real NY Herkimers. On Etsy, it appears that a lot of the listings contain Herkimers from China (often through Tibet), Pakistan, or they do not list where they are sourced from (I'd guess not from the Herkimer area). Although the crystals not found in NY are amazing too (and cheap), many folks (even Wikipedia) believe that the real deal crystals with the best shine and clarity come from the Herkimer area. It might be my new found pride, but I find myself in agreement with these "originalists".
I am selling these to the buyer who would like to use these stones for making jewelry, to use in metaphysical or healing ceremonies, or whatever else these crystals can do to improve your well-being. I know that they have improved my state of mind! Since I am new to this, I would like to offer you some other Herkimers as a gift for being my first customers. It may not be a lot, but it may be a few larger half or quarter crystal pieces that I would not be able to sell individually or maybe a few small C grade crystals or even something nicer :)! I have also decided to allow returns if you are unhappy! For now, the buyer pays for return shipping. Thank you for being you and all that jazz!
This amazing Herkimer Diamond Quartz actually captures little rainbows as it moves in the light. Great communication from the seller. Bonus stones with the order. Shipped quickly.
