Item details

Pattern written in English only.

The Scoop Neck Sweater is a perfect cool and cold weather garment that can be worn alone or for layering. It is a classic design and is beautiful in its simplicity. Dress it up with a string of pearls for a night on the town. Or wear it layered with your favorite long sleeve top and a pair of jeans.

The stockinette and garter stitch design makes it easy for beginners and a great first sweater to knit. With larger size needles, this sweater knits up very quickly.

The comfortable measurements allow for a positive ease of about two inches so when selecting a size, check the blocked finished measurements.

For point of reference, the sample sweater is a size small and is shown on a U.S. Size 10 mannequin. This size would be appropriate for Sizes 6 to 10 because the sweater is meant to be spacious.

Sample is knit with Cascade Superwash 128 Italian Plum which is a beautiful buttery soft yarn in a bulky weight. This particular yarn makes an especially soft and luxurious sweater.

Finished measurements after blocking:
Bust: 36 (38, 40) inches
Sleeve width widest part: 16 (17, 18) inches
Sleeve inseam length: 10 (11, 12) inches
Front length from scoop neck to hemline 15 (16, 17) inches
Back length from hem to hem: 18 (19, 20) inches
Note: you can modify the length of the sleeves and bodice by adding more rows

Approximately 500 (600, 700) yards of #5 bulky weight yarn
Shown in Cascade 128 Superwash Italian Plum
U.S. Sizes 10 and 11 24" circular needles
U.S. Sizes 10 and 11 16" circular needles
Scrap yarn to use as stitch holder and yarn needle
5 stitch markers of which one is a different color/shape to mark end of round (tip: tie a piece of yarn on one)

Gauge: 11 stitches x 12 rows = 4 inches on U.S. Size 11 needles in stockinette
