This listing is for the wood-fired beads pictured. Please look at the last picture for size.

Getting glazed beads in a wood-fire kiln is a rare experience which means that these are unlike any beads out there. Just do a Google search for wood-fired beads to see what comes up! I think you will find that a very high percentage will be the beads that were sold from this shop. These are not raku or pit-fired, which have their own unique beauty.

WOOD_FIRE BEADS - These beads are created individually by hand. They are fired twice, once in an electric kiln (bisque fired), glazed and then fired again in a 32 cubic feet wood-fire kiln up to 2400 degrees fahrenheit. That is what makes these rare. Wood-firing is the ancient form of firing prior to electricity or gas. The kiln is stoked with wood every few minutes for a total of 20-24 hours. The kiln is then cooled for a couple of days.

Handmade wood-fire beads are incredibly durable and will add a unique look to your handmade jewelry designs. If you have any questions, feel free to contact MaryAnn Carroll through the Etsy shop or email at artisanbeadsplus [!at] gmail.com.

You can see more of the kiln by visiting my husband's website - http://splitfirepottery.com or follow us on facebook - http://facebook.com/splitfirepotteryandartisanbeadsplus

These beads are 100% handmade from my home in Homer, NY. If you have never used ceramic beads in your designs, you will find that they add a completely new look that ordinary beads or manufactured ceramic beads cannot do.

Each is individually crafted.

Thanks for stopping by.

SHIPPING TIMES: Due to the fact that I close up shop at 9pm Eastern Standard Time to package beads for next day shipping, anything ordered after that will go out the following day. I use the paypal service for shipping unless it is an international order. I strive to get my orders out as quickly as possible.

INTERNATIONAL: I will refund any significant overcharges after I ship your item. I am finding that I can't really average any overseas shipping as I can in the US. I'm sorry for any inconvenience.

RECEIPTS: If you need a printed receipt, please convo me with that request. I am trying to cut down on the amount of ink and paper (being green) that I'm using. Thanks.

Payments

I accept paypal, personal check or money order. If payment is not made on the same day or arrangements made on the same day, I will attempt to convo you to work something out. If I don't hear back from you within 3 days, I will cancel the order. Thanks.

Returns & exchanges

I stand behind everything that I make. I have not had any complaints so far :O) That doesn't mean that it can never happen. For that reason, please let me know if you are unhappy with your purchase and I will refund your money or exchange for beads at an equal value. I ask that shipping costs be covered by the buyer. Thanks!

Additional policies

To the best of my knowledge there is no lead in any of the glazes that I use. I mainly use commercial glazes sold by Mayco and Coyote. On occasion, I purchase glazes made in a ceramics supplier in Syracuse, New York who has told me that they are lead free. I do not purchase glazes that list lead.

With all that said, please remember that beads are not intended for children. It's not uncommon for children as old as 14 to put the necklace parts (ie. pendant) that they are wearing in their mouths. As a middle school teacher for 20 years I've witnessed girls and boys putting necklace parts in their mouths while in class. Please keep that in mind when purchasing any jewelry for children.

Thank-you.
