I have hand spun this gorgeous autumnal art yarn on my tradition Ashford spinning wheel. I have used a 50:50 blend of russet red and mink grey merino yarn. To finish the yarn, I have plied it with a sparkly gold thread. So this yarn will be perfect for you autumn/winter project. There is enough yarn here to make a baby hat or jumper, a adult sized hat, cowl, small shawl, a pair of gloves or mittens, or perhaps a hot water bottle cover or mug warmer. Ideal for making something unique and bespoke for a Christmas gift. Have a look on www.ravelry.com for more ideas.
It is beautifully soft and therefore I would suggest hand wash in warm water only.

The beauty of working with art yarn, is that you don't have to be an amazing knitter. Really the yarn is the show piece so simpler stitches and techniques work best, for example a simple scarf, blanket, cushion cover. If you you can knit or crochet a square, you can fold it in half, sew up two side and make a clutch bag or cosmetic bag . Great idea for a pressie!
People have often asked me what they can make with their art yarn, so I created a board on Pinterest with examples of simple and mostly free patterns to give you some inspiration. Check out my 'Art Yarn Creations' board and follow me for more ideas on Pinterest
