Vintage Enameling rough is rare. The rough enamel came from an estate.
This material was made by The Carpenter & Wood Co. of Providence, Rhode Island. The company does not seem to be in business any longer, but they were established in 1883. The pictures show the rough with a 6" rule for scale. In no particular order, there are 8 colors, some are packed in the original C&W box. The rough must be crushed and screened - the strainer to do this is included - see photo. Some folks use a hammer, others use a mortar & pestle - some use both methods.
