Rather small and extremely light for a tele zoom, this Minolta 70-210mm lens is ideal for travel. It has that specific silvery-beige color of the Minolta Dynax 505si, so if you want to look flashily fashionable while zooming in on local wildlife, this is your chance.
Sporting a Minolta A-mount, this lens will mount to and work flawlessly with all modern Sony Alpha cameras, both on full frame and APS-C. Use with mirrorless camera systems is also easy, by means of an adapter.
Even though it is amazingly light - about the same weight as a sturdy old 50mm prime, I would say - the lens' plastic body feels solid and precision-engineered. The proprietary hood attaches snugly and can be reversed for easy carrying (see pictures).
This is an autofocus lens, but it has a manual focus ring at the front. There is no aperture ring. The lens extends when zooming, becoming almost twice as long.
The example on sale is in almost mint condition - there are just a few microscopic spots on the front element, but these will not influence picture quality at all. What will influence picture quality is Minolta's wonderful coatings, which always produce beautiful colours and reduce flare.
The lens comes with proprietary Minolta front and back caps (not pictured).
If you're looking for a highly portable, but still capable zoom lens, this is it!
