A selection of thirty-four antique hand carved conus shell beads including some interesting and hard to find specimens. Used by mauritanian moor women as hair adornments, trade beads and hair ornaments among amber, coral, silver, glass and other beads. Hand made by cutting the base of the conus shell, grounded to give the shape and carved to made the incisions and designs. See pages 34 and 47 in Collectible beads by Robert K. Liu.
