This 2017 fall fleece is black with a few silver fibres and a bit of copper sun bleaching at the tips. The bleaching will disappear into the fleece after carding or can be kept separate if you spin the locks in the grease. It is a partial fleece from a mature Icelandic ewe. Some sections on the flanks were felted and had to be removed. What remains weighs 1.5 lb. It is clean and well-skirted. Icelandic wool has minimal lanolin and washes easily. As you can see from the photographs, there is variation in the staple, from 4 to 7. It will spin well at any weight, from laceweight to bulky and is suitable for a sweater to be worn over a shirt or turtleneck, jacket, vest, hat, mitts, shawl, bulky socks or throw. We will include a photograph of the ewe. Fall-shorn mature ewe fleeces are priced at $20/lb. The shipping is estimated at the maximum amount for your country; the difference between this amount and the actual shipping cost will be refunded.
The shipping cost assigned to each item is the maximum amount--from Nova Scotia to Northern BC in Canada, to Southern California in the US. I pack your item and take it to the post office. Once I've paid the actual mailing cost, I refund your overpayment directly to the credit card you used to pay for the purchase. We vacuum-pack so the postage/shipping will be as low as possible. The trip to the post office will usually happen within a few days, but if you catch me when I am visiting my dad in Ontario, it may take longer, up to two weeks.
Returns & exchanges

For US customers, Canada is listed as a foot-and-mouth disease free country by the US Department of Agriculture. This means that it is legal for us to ship raw fleece to an individual customer, but it does not guarantee that US Customs will not hold up or even refuse the shipment. To make this as unlikely as possible, the package will include a declaration that Canada is a foot-and-mouth disease free country, the wool comes from healthy animals, was shorn and packed in clean conditions and is free of manure and blood. We cannot, however, take responsibility for acceptance of the shipment by US Customs.
