This 2017 fall fleece come from a mature Icelandic wether. It is grey-patterned moorit, which means the outer, longer "tog" fibres are golden brown and the shorter, inner "thel" fibres are cream with some grey. Our nickname for this colour pattern is "butterscotch ripple." You can preserve the variation by spinning the locks, or card it into an even light brown. The fleece is clean and well-skirted, and weighs 3.5 lb. Icelandic wool has minimal lanolin and washes easily. As you can see from the photographs, there is variation in the staple, from 4 to 9 inches. It is soft and will spin well at any weight, from laceweight to bulky. It is equally suitable for a sweater or blanket or something worn next to the skin. We will include a photograph of the wether.
The shipping cost assigned to each item is the maximum amount--from Nova Scotia to Northern BC in Canada, to Southern California in the US. I pack your item and take it to the post office. Once I've paid the actual mailing cost, I refund your overpayment directly to the credit card you used to pay for the purchase. We vacuum-pack so the postage/shipping will be as low as possible. The trip to the post office will usually happen within a few days, but if you catch me when I am visiting my dad in Ontario, it may take longer, up to two weeks.
Returns & exchanges
If you are not happy with anything from this shop, mail it back to us and we will refund your purchase price or replace with something you like better.
For US customers, Canada is listed as a foot-and-mouth disease free country by the US Department of Agriculture. This means that it is legal for us to ship raw fleece to an individual customer, but it does not guarantee that US Customs will not hold up or even refuse the shipment. To make this as unlikely as possible, the package will include a declaration that Canada is a foot-and-mouth disease free country, the wool comes from healthy animals, was shorn and packed in clean conditions and is free of manure and blood. We cannot, however, take responsibility for acceptance of the shipment by US Customs.
