Item details

This old logger's tool is called a 'cant' because you 'can't' find many of them around anymore. Just kidding. But it really is called a cant, or sometimes a cant dog. It's similar to a peavey, except that a peavey has a pointed end, rather than the iron teeth that this cant has. It was used for rolling a log over, and we wouldn't be surprised if this honey is 100 years old. It likely was used in a sawmill or logging operation; it was rescued out of an old barn here in Oregon.
The wood on the handle is a bit rotted on one side; see photos. (The first 4 photos show the cant hanging on the wall; we installed a D-hook on the back for hanging.) We gave the tool a coat of satin polyurethane to give it some gloss and preserve the wood from further deterioration. It still has a very rustic look, however, and has a ton of character.
This device is 3 feet long; the hook extends out about 18 inches from the handle.

Additional policies

Most of our items are created from old, antique, vintage stuff. We've found junk that's been sitting in dusty, drafty barns for decades. We've even found stuff out laying in the woods, completely exposed to the elements. As such, many of our products have rust, chipped paint, dents, cracks, missing pieces, cobwebs, scratches, paint speckles, stains, gouges, and fingerprints. Please look carefully at all photos to avoid being surprised. You are buying products in "as is" condition.
