Gem: Triplite Weight: 2.41 cts. Size: 8.96 x 7.02 mm. Color: Burnt Orange Clarity: I Cut: Oval Locality: Pakistan Treatment: None
Here is a fantastic rare gem! This is a fine Triplite from Pakistan. Triplite is a rare Phosphate mineral that is typically found in massive opaque veins that are a brown color. Gem grade Triplite in this nice orange color is extremely rare and good faceting material only comes from one locality in the world. This stone displays an attractive burnt orange color that is desirable for a rare gem. The stone is nearly 2.5 carats, which is large for this mineral, and most stone that are successfully faceted do not weigh in more than 1 ct. The mineral is difficult to facet because of its brittle nature and 3 distinct cleavage planes. This stone would be difficult to replace and is a true collector’s gem. Enjoy!
