Item details

This unique one of a kind hand forged axe is hand forged in the blacksmith shop between hammer and anvil. The head is forged in the style of the old trade axes with a unique hand made Osage Orange handle. The eye is formed by wrapping the material around a mandrel, the sides are then forge welded together leaving a cleft for the tool steel edge to be forge welded into the edge. The eye on this axe was reinforced with the addition of a more modern arc weld on the inside right at the seam. The curved handle adds a touch of fantasy that would make this a great ornamental piece. However the hardened and tempered edge is equally at home as a light chore axe around the home.

overall weight 29 ounces
overall length 16"
