Wildling Art is expanding the studio to bring you handmade wood items, starting with these beautiful hand turned wood buttons.
The combination of wood used is cherry and Walnut. The wood is glued together to form an alternating color pattern. It is then turned on a lathe to create the circular shape. Each button is cut from the rounded piece, hand sanded to be smooth and hand drilled. They are then finished off with an application of non toxic mineral oil and beeswax to bring out the vibrant color of each wood.
These buttons are just over 1" in diameter and are 3/16" thick. Use them to complement any lovely handmade item, purses, scarves, jewelry, etc.
Ideally, wood buttons should not be washed because they can lose the protective finish over time and they may get brittle and crack. It is recommended that the buttons be removed before laundering. If you choose not to, a wipe with mineral oil can restore the vibrant luster of the wood.
