Item details

Fingerless mittens are great for the transition seasons of spring and autumn. These are a quick knit with a simple zig zag cable and purl panel.

Yarn requirements:
Approx 140 m / 155 yds of double knitting yarn

Note: I made my mittens from Sublime Cashmere Merino Silk DK. I just about squeezed them out of a 50g ball (the yarn requirements stated above allow for some contingency). If you use a 100% merino yarn you will probably need a second ball. Check the meterage on your ball band carefully. This pattern is suitable for any DK weight yarn that knits to the correct tension/gauge.

Other supplies:
3¼mm (UK10, US3) dpns, set of four
4mm (UK8, US6) dpns, set of four
Cable needle or spare dpn
Note: you can work most of the mitten using circular needles and the magic loop method if you prefer, but you will need dpns for shaping the top and for the thumbs due to the small number of stitches.
Stitch markers x 3, in 2 different colours
Waste yarn
Tapestry needle

Techniques used:
Knit and purl
Simple cable

File delivery
Your files will be available to download once payment is confirmed. Here's how.

Goods will not be dispatched until payment in full is received. In the case of custom orders, special materials will not be ordered and work will not begin on making the item until payment is received in full, unless otherwise agreed.

Returns & exchanges

If you are in any way unhappy with your purchase you may return the goods to us within 30 days of receipt for a full refund or exchange, provided that the goods are in saleable condition and all packaging is intact.

The buyer is responsible for the cost of return postage, and for the cost of sending out a replacement item if one is required. We recommend that you return goods using recorded delivery or similar “signed for” service, as we cannot accept responsibility if your returns go missing.

Our quality control standards are very high, but if your goods are faulty, we will happily refund the cost of return postage.

This policy does not apply to custom orders, which are non-returnable unless the goods are faulty.

Additional policies

Note for UK buyers. It's quite hard to get a foolproof pricing policy for delivery of multiple items to UK buyers, due to the complexity of the Royal Mail's pricing and the different size and weight allowances at each price point. I've tried my best to get as close as possible, but please be assured that if you pay too much I will refund the excess.
