I am presenting you with a wonderful knitting pattern for a sweater and crocheting pattern for a hat to fit a 19 inch A. Marque antique or reproduction doll.
This is a very easy pattern; knit with USA size 6 circular 16" needles and knitting worsted weight yarn. The buttons are 1/4" to 3/8".
I give you complete line by line instructions with some great suggestions for every phase of your doll's garments.
You can add some great decorations to your garments.
Knit Picks has drop dead gorgeous knitting worsted weight yarns, very affordable.
I have knitted, crocheted and sewed for dolls since I was little. In addition to having no money to purchase ready made doll clothes, my parents believed in doing everything from scratch. At age 62 I still believe in a certain amount of good old Yankee thrift and creativity.
I scrounged through the neighborhood for supplies others did not need, and made patterns and clothes for dolls.
I was a member of UFDC, and a member of a very prestigious local doll club. I believe in the purity of dressing vintage and antique dolls in the style they were accustomed during their particular era.
The yarn I use for these sets were completely typical of the 1950s for infants and dolls. Back then people made brown sweaters for babies, so feel free to choose any color that pleases you.
