This gorgeous Corn Stalk is made in Romanian Point Lace with Anchor Freccia thread, size 16 and 20. Romanian Point Lace is a combination of crochet and needle lace stitches. First, the braids are made with a crochet hook size 1.15-1.25mm(10-9 steel USA) crochet hook. There are two types of braided cords that need to be worked first: simple crochet and double crochet braid. Then, they are basted on the fabric pattern. It follows the joining of the braids where they touch in order to create a framework. The needle lace stitches are then, worked with the tapestry needle. When the pattern is finished, it is gently iron over a dump cloth, on the pattern side. The side facing the fabric is the right side. Then the basting thread is carefully cut, starting from the muslin side, and the pattern is separated from the fabric, cleaned off of the remaining basting thread.
The kit contains: Anchor Freccia cotton threads, size 16 and 20 for making the braids and for the needle lace stitches; pattern drawn on muslin fabric; 1 sharp pointed needle and colored sewing thread for basting the corded braids on the fabric pattern; 1 tapestry needle size 24 for working the needle lace stitches; easy-to-follow, step-by-step coloured illustrated instructions and the picture of the finished design.
