This item is 15 beautiful, soft feathers from a Muscovy duck They are the largest kind of soft feathers I have, from the flanks of the duck. These are a new color to my shop, called ripple to folks who show muscovies. They are a dark chocolate brown \gray. I hope you like them! Check out the other ripple feathers I've also got in stock now, too!
Our muscovies are hatched and raised by their mothers, on grass from day one and free to roam. They are excellent grazers and an all around charming homestead bird. They are also prolific, the first year that we kept them we got 60 ducklings out of 4 hens! They have great lives, and then we eat them. If you need feathers from birds that were not killed, these will not work for you. I tried to price my feathers to reflect that. I'm aiming for an intermediate between feathers collected off the ground from living birds, and mass produced, factory farmed birds. I love my birds and take excellent care of them; they are raised organically and free range, cooped at night for predator protection, and we respect them to the very end. We are a farm, though, and while I have some birds with names who will live with us for as long as they live, most are not pets. It may be of interest for a potential buyer to know that one of our main focus points is on environmental sustainability, our home and farm are off-grid, we haul water, use only wood for heat and cooking, and have a solar panel for our few electric needs.
Not exactly what's pictured.. the feathers I got were much darker and didn't really have the 'ripple' effect except on the outside and tips. Still beautiful and I can still use them. It won't let me add a picture.
