Express your love of nature by decorating with some truly green and upcycled products! Rescued from dead tree removal in St. Louis County, MO, this ambrosia maple hollow log picture frame takes advantage of the natural hollow shape inside the tree to create a unique way to display your photos. The ambrosia figure looks somewhat like flames around the middle when cut in cross section. A great way to create a conversation piece in your home, office or cabin!
Approximate dimensions varies some between the different frames, but roughly are 14"H x 13"W and stands out from the wall about 2". Holds approx. a 11x10 photo. The frame comes with custom cut framing-grade acrylic and acid-free backing, all held in by offset brackets. The brackets remove with a Phillips screwdriver making it easy for you to add your favorite print using the acrylic as a template to cut your photo. There is also a wire on the back of the frame for secure and easy hanging using one nail or wall anchor (which can also be moved for different orientations). Note there are film protectors still on the acrylic you will peel off before inserting your photo, giving it the cloudy look in the photos.
Our process begins by milling the log into cross sections, air-drying for months, and then sanding to a flat, smooth surface. Natural edges are left more in tact by only lightly sanding in order to retain some character. We finish and preserve the wood using our signature oil/varnish blend to bring out the natural beauty, along with durability.
I cut several of these hollow slices from the same log, so the exact frame you receive may not be the one pictured in the photos. However, they are all representative in look, color and character as to what is pictured. This also ensures that yours is truly unique and your own . . . just as nature would intend it!
Our mission is to provide you with amazing and unique works of art designed with the wild beauty of nature in mind, while at the same time promote sustainability and wise use of resources. Missouri Nature Art uses all Missouri found or rescued wood sources and no living trees are ever cut for the purposes of these products. Most all wood we use would otherwise be burnt, chipped, rot or go to landfill. Using wood products in your home captures and stores carbon normally released in its deterioration. I generally ship with US postal service with delivery confirmation as that is usually the most economical, but I also ship larger items via FedEx when it costs less, as both grant discounts for being an Etsy Seller. This seems to be the best value for my customers and is how my shipping costs are calculated. If you would like me to check to see if FedEx may be cheaper, please convo me your zip code and I will investigate, especially if you live out west or if the item is larger. At your request, I would also be happy to ship using a different carrier, add additional insurance (comes with $100), signature confirmation, or other services. Please let me know before purchasing so I can quote you the price difference.
In the unfortunate event your package arrives damaged, please document the damage and packaging with photos and contact me immediately. Do not discard any of the shipping/packing materials until any claims are resolved or we may not be able to grant refunds or repairs. $100 of coverage is included with most shipments, but I can add more insurance at your cost, if you would like more.
Packages stolen from your residence due to the carrier leaving the package is not our responsibility. Items or orders over $500 will automatically require direct signature confirmation, but under that amount it is up to you whether you would like that service added (extra cost) or have the package held for pickup at the nearest location to you (no cost if shipped FedEx). Carriers do warn that theft increases closer to the holidays, so if you think theft may be a problem in your area, please convo me to set up these services before purchase.
I will gladly investigate shipping outside the US. Just contact me and I will see what I can do. I would love for you to own a piece of my work, no matter where you are!
I accept a variety of payment methods such as Credit Cards, Gift Cards, PayPal, and Money Orders or Cashier Checks. If you need a special arrangement, please contact me.
