Vintage Camera Pentax Auto 110 (SAFARI)

I get a real kick out of cruising antique shops, flea markets, and estate sales finding awesome, unique cameras (sometimes ones I've never seen) and then fixing them up, cleaning them and selling them, hopefully to you. This camera is one of the select few I choose to take home and refurbish and hopefully you'll feel the same way once it's in your hands.

Unearthed in a local estate sale. Camera seems to function though has not been tested with film, otherwise mint condition however with display and leather cases.

----

In 1979, Pentax launched the Auto 110 SLR. It is a true camera system with interchangeable lenses and a full range of accessories, including two dedicated electronic flashes, the Pentax AF 130P and the AF 100P, as well as an electric Pentax 110 Winder.

The camera has a bright viewfinder with a split image focusing screen and TTL light metering. The automatic program exposure system is quite sophisticated, working from a fast 1/750 sec. at f/13.5 to 1 sec. at f/2.8, with automatic film speed setting from 100 to 400ASA, programmed by the cassette. A wide choice of close-up lenses, filters, rubber lens-shades, an ever-ready case and more, complements the system. The camera was made available in black, brown and a transparent working demo version.

An upgrade Auto 110 Super came on the market in 1982 featuring brighter viewfinder, low light warning, an electronic self-timer and a single stroke advance lever. A 70mm telephoto lens and a 2 × Zoom lens were also added.

While the Pentax Auto 110 is considered to be the smallest consumer SLR reflex camera ever made, another contender would be the Russian-made Narciss. However, the Narciss is larger in all dimensions and is much heavier.

The Safari (brown) model is somewhat rare and sought by collectors.

FAQs

As I don't make my cameras I can't do custom orders, tell me what you're looking for though and I'll add it to my list for when I go camera hunting.

It's highly recommended with any of the cameras that I sell that you head to your local camera shop after purchase for cleaning, lubrication and any adjustments that need to be made to the cameras before use.

I package all the cameras with utmost concern for damage mitigation. many times I have professionals package them so that I don't make any mistakes.

As a one man shop I cannot possibly guarantee that all my cameras are in perfect condition. The buyer is responsible for asking questions and reading about the condition before purchase and caring for the camera after purchase. I will do my best to address any issues in the item description but some things I may miss. These cameras are all old and operating issues come with the territory. My process as a seller is to assess condition, purchase, clean and fix minor issues and to sell. If you are not happy with your camera let me know as soon as possible and I will do what I can to help.
