What a gem! This needlepoint kit from the 70s comes with everything you'll need to stitch your own pillow case: a cotton canvas, acrylic Persian crewel yarn and Persian wool yarn, corduroy pillow back and piping, zipper and even the tapestry needle. Also comes with instructions.
The kit has never been opened and in fact still has its Strawbridge & Clothier tag affixed to the front. It cost $14 in 1976. That's the equivalent of a bout $60 today.
This design is Kit No. 4665 by Bucilla and is called Bargello Swirl. Some folks on the internet are dating this kit to the 90s, but having grown up in a late 70s household, we knew it was older than that. Sure enough we found an ad for the design in a 1976 edition of the Louisville Courier-Journal: https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/108421252/
This will make a gorgeous pillow in rich colors, and once you've finished it you'll be able to tell folks that it's both 40 years old AND brand new. Neat, huh?
