The "Harry Potter" camera, iconic Argus C3 Brick dressed up with two-color leatherette. In 1958, Argus introduced the final production series of the C3 with two models, "Standard" and "Match-Matic". This Matchmatic was produced in 1962.
Very clean condition inside and out, with the seldom working LC3 meter. The LC3 on this C3 is responsive but about 1 1/2 stops slow according to my handheld meter. The rangefinder works and is accurate, Viewfinder clean, shutter fires at all speeds, film counter works, all the metal work is bright and shiny, and the leatherette is intact and tight. The case is in good shape, exterior looks fine, interior shows wear. A collectable that functions as a camera.
Once the best-selling 35mm cameras in the world, competition from Japan and Germany drove Argus to bankruptcy. The C3 was still viable as a camera. The lens is sharp and you can get good images, but the simple, rugged design from the 1930s is simply not as good as newer, more sophisticated cameras from Japan and Germany that were flooding the market in the early 1960s.
