A stunning orchid species which produces multiple large purple flowers which can have the fragrance of Licorice.
In nature, this plant is found in Venezuela and southeastern Bahia, Espirito Santo, Rio de Janiero and Sao Paulo states of Brazil. It grows as an epiphyte, clinging to the upper branches of large trees where it can get more light.
The plants we are offering have been propagated by division from plants originally produced 'in-vitro' from seed. These are large flowering sized plants. They are not in flower at the moment, this species flowers early - mid summer.
Supplied in 10.5cm pots, the plants have several pseudobulbs and are about 45cm tall.
They need similar care to the familiar Phalaenopsis (Moth) Orchid which many people grow.
