We often get asked for just Black or just Brown Bog Oak so I am now offering Brown as an option at purchase. The timber is the same age and the same density. When saw milling Bog Oak we quite often come across a colour variation across the plank, Black on the outside fading to brown in the centre. We can only assume this is where the soluble salts etc which cause the timber to turn black over thousands of years have not been able to penetrate so far into the trunk. The grain of some is more pronounced and colours vary from mid brown/ reddy brown/ dark brown. You will be sent a mixed pack.
