~~~ Prehnite is usually light green in color, with a whitish hue or yellowish tinge and often appear cloudy or velvety. Deep green gemstones are not common. In April 2000, a rare orange Prehnite was discovered at the famous Kalahari Manganese Fields in South Africa. It is mostly translucent, and rarely transparent.
Prehnite is named after Colonel Hendrik Von Prehn (1733–1785), a Dutch commander of the military forces of South Africa who brought Prehnite specimens from South Africa to Europe.
Prehnite Cat's Eyes do exist from the Australian finds, but these are very rare. ~~~
