This is an “EASY" punch needle pattern of a vixen (female) fox watching over her kit while she takes a winter’s nap. My inspiration came from the numerous and beautiful red fox we have in these foothills, and my desire to someday see a young kit. Since I don’t raise hens, I appreciate the beauty of these lively and lovely animals. I find them much easier to spot on the white winter snow than in the summer.
The pattern is on weavers cloth, as well as on a paper guide showing color suggestions. And while the image itself is 4.25” X 5”, the cloth is an ample 12” x 12”. The instructions presume you know very little about punch needle, and there is an entire page of tips and advice on the craft.
You’ll need a punch needle tool, threads and a frame, and recommendations for these are in the pattern. If you are new to punch needle, this would be a great place to start. The contrasting colors work up as bright and clear as a winter night sky. This punched patch is on a felted wool crossbody bag from Hobby Lobby, but the design would make a nice framed piece or a gorgeous rug.
Contact me with any questions about this pattern, or if you are interested in having this design transferred to a 2.5’ X 3.5’ piece of monk’s cloth for a rug project.
Shipping within the continental U.S. is FREE for this pattern until May 1, 2018. Outside the U.S., shipping costs will be calculated. Thank you for looking.
I love anything foxy, just added punch needle to my list of needle work. Can't wait to start this one.
