The inspiration for this stargazing whale came from the book Ahab’s Wife, one of my favorite all time books. I did this design first in a rug, and because it’s in a room I don’t use that much, I decided to replicate it into this key hook for the basement.
The image size is 7.5’ x 4.5” which fits a wooden oar that I purchased at A.C. Moore. The pattern is printed on weavers cloth which measures 12” x 14”. The instructions include how to finish off the oar, the pattern, glossy photograph, color guide, punching instructions and suggestions. This pattern works up very quickly.
You will need the oar (oar NOT INCLUDED), if that is how you choose to use this patch, hooks (for the keys), a punch needle tool, punch needle frame, DMC Perle Cotton #5, embroidery needle, small crochet hook, scissors, fusible fabric, fabric glue, and Scotchguard or something similar, to protect your work from dust and spills.
Please contact me with any questions about this pattern, or if you are interested in having this pattern transferred by hand to a 2.5’ X 3.5’ piece of monk’s cloth for a rug hooking project.
Shipping within the continental U.S. is FREE for this pattern until May 1, 2018. Outside the U.S., shipping costs will be calculated.
Thank you for looking, and have a wonderful day.
