This is a standard black iron pipe union fitting finished with a matt black powder coating.
Unions are known as straight connectors that separate into three pieces for access to part or whole sections of iron piping line without unthreading pipe connections. Typically, they will be used to create closed sections of iron piping where it is impossible to thread two or more fittings together at once.
They also look great as statement pieces in tables and chairs!
Black iron pipe is typically used to transport non-corrosive fluids such as water or gas underground, though your home, in businesses. - Commonly, they are found at your big box hardware stores such as Home Depot, Lowes, Menards, Ace, etc.
Unlike the ones you will get at your local supplier, these fittings are finished using a process called powder coating that gives them a flawless painted look that can take some serious abuse! That means these fittings are meant to be used in furniture builds such as shelving, tables, benches, chairs, or decor.
Powder coating is a process of depositing a thin layer of plastic over a metal surface using electrostatic adhesion. After the plastic powder has been deposited each fitting is then baked at a temperature over 400 degrees for up to 30 minutes fusing the plastic powder together and melting to the surface of the fitting. This process results in a hard finish that is very tough to scratch, chip, or rust.
I currently offer only 1 color of powder coating; matte black. This is constrained because of mass production. I do have the ability to provide custom colors for an additional price. In the future, I hope to offer more color options such as copper, brass, and white.
Each fitting is available in 3 sizes: [ 3/4" ] [ 1" ] [ 1 - 1/2" ]
My stock may fluctuate rapidly since these are newer listings so if you are interested in placing a larger order I would suggest starting a conversation first to inquire about fulfillment!
