⏩ Story of this Pattern ⏪ My colleague Judit wore a top like this one day and I couldn’t stop looking at it. So she patiently let me stare at her and make a sketch of the top. Several months later, she stared back across our desks at me and said, “Isn’t that my top you’re wearing?”
⏩ Details ⏪ This is a pretty, feminine top with great versatility - make it in a wild print to be a show-stopper, or make several in solids as wardrobe staples. The top features a flowing, gathered front ending in shirring at the hem. The scoop neckline shows off the neck and collarbones while still being modest.
A perfectly shaped bow adds a cute detail on the front, but can also be left off. There are two sleeve lengths included in the pattern - a ¾ length sleeve or a short sleeve, both with small gathers echoing the shirring.
The top is nearly as beautiful inside as outside - all seams are fully finished or enclosed.

⏩ Difficulty⏪ Upper-Intermediate. This pattern assumes the sewer is familiar with techniques such as interfacing, gathering, sewing straight and curved French seams, and grading seams. Other techniques (such as machine shirring) are explained in detail.
⏩ Sizes ⏪ This pattern is available in European sizes 34 to 48. See the third picture above for exact measurements and sizing information.
⏩ Fabrics and Notions ⏪ This dress is designed for light to medium woven fabrics with good drape, such as cotton voile, rayon challis, or silk. You will need 1.4 meters of 150 cm wide fabric (1¾ yards of 60” wide) or 1.9 meters of 115 cm wide fabric (2¼ yards of 45” wide). If your fabric has a print that you would like to match (stripes, for example), you may need more fabric. If your fabric will shrink during washing, buy extra so you don’t end up short!
You will also need a small amount of interfacing (less than 30 cm / 12 inches), thread matching your main fabric, and elastic thread for shirring.
