Hand-dyed wool yarn using natural plant dyes in a lovely almond color. The neutral tone has a gentle warm undertone of creamy brown. It's easily paired with other neutral and warm colors.
The organic color is created by hand dyeing with young elderberries which were wild harvested in Washington. Natural colors derived from organic dyes are one of a kind and can have slight variations in each skein.
The yarn is 100% wool. The natural softness of wool fiber combined with a heavier weight makes this yarn a wonderful fiber for knitting wool garments and accessories. Each skein is 220 yards in length, worsted weight, ideal for #6-9 (4mm-5.5mm) knitting needles (4.5-5 sts).
Care: Hand Wash/Dry Flat
Why natural dyes? Natural dye is sustainable and is less harmful for the environment and our bodies. Today's use of synthetic dyes, which is in most of our textiles and clothes, are toxic. Synthetic dyes are known to pollute our waterways, harm wildlife, and maybe linked to cancer.
Supporting artisans: Your support of makers and artisans reduces our reliance on mass consumerism, the biggest culprit of most of our environmental problems including extreme climate changes. Your support also helps to bring back lost traditions and skills such as natural dyeing. As we recover these traditions, we become more in tune with nature and with our community.
