Food Grade Mineral oil is a food grade oil that is commonly used as a cutting board finish. It can be used on wooden chopping boards, cheese boards, serving platters and wooden spoons. This is a very useful oil to have around and every woodworker should have some in their shed.Food oils such as olive oil, canola oil, vegetable oils etc. are food products and go rancid over time, mineral oil does not spoil and does not have any colour or odour. It can be used just by itself, but for a longer lasting finish I would recommend using Mind Your Beeswax Timber Polish to use as a top coat: https://www.etsy.com/au/listing/502430709/beeswax-wood-finish-270-ml-wood-wax-food?ref=shop_home_feat_1 Mineral oil is baby oil but without the fragrances, it is also known as paraffin oil. Mineral oil will naturally darken the timber.I have found that I get around 30 average sized chopping boards per litre of mineral oil.
