The perfect Father’s Day gift for the hunting dad, this is an Edie and Ginger hand painted canvas from my stash in the 1970’s. I was going to do this one for my Irish uncle because the scene reminded me of a village in the British Isles. And I can not remember why I didn’t even start it because I look at it now and wish I had someone to work it up for. The colors are soft but true with mauve and lavender. It has a pastel feel to it but it is not feminine. My favorite parts are the pointer and the subtlety of the puffy clouds.
This is an 18 gauge mono canvas with an image at 16” x 16” on a 18.5” x 18.5” canvas. The edges have been sewn tightly, and as usual, the background color is your choice. I always did my needlepoint pillows in cream or off white but the number of muted tones in this give you many options; even black.
With Father’s Day in June, this would make an heirloom gift and something he would always remember for a father, grandfather, an uncle or anyone who is special to you. There is enough space in the selvage and within the canvas image area on the right to put a dog’s name. This would be perfect for framing or made into a pillow. This is clean, colors are true, and it has been stored in my non-smoking home.
This is for the hand painted canvas only. You supply your needles and wool or cotton threads. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
