A few years ago I was approached by an Arts University professor to develop a tapestry bobbin that would not break. These hardwood, straight-grain bobbins are the result. Not only do I select the wood carefully and orient the grain for maximum strength but I treat each one with my own hardening process. The result - with hundreds in service I have never had to replace a broken bobbin.
Bulletwood is a dark chocolate brown color, really hard (hence the name), and does not lose its color in the sun like many other woods.
You can choose either a "ball" or "thistle" end and you can mix-and-match on multiple orders. I now offer bobbins in 5", 6", or 7" lengths. The 7" bobbin is 1/2" wide with a 4" point and the post is 3/16" by 2 1/2". The others have the same width and are proportionately shorter.
Please indicate your choice of length and end-type when ordering. If you want some of each just put in multiple orders and I will credit you back any excess shipping.
Oh, and you lace makers - I also make lace bobbins.
I prefer to use the postal system rather than commercial carriers - there is a lot less hassle over Customs. However, for large items this may not be possible. In those cases I will discuss shipping with you beforehand.
In general, I will ship immediately (within one business day) after payment is made. I always declare the full value of each item and you are responsible for taxes and duties applicable in your country/state.

Additional return information
I make every attempt to describe and show all items accurately but sometimes misunderstandings do occur. If it is within my power I will make every effort to make you happy.
Please note: many carriers will NOT insure handmade items beyond a value of $100. When shipping more valuable items I will work with you to ensure appropriate shipping insurance.
I will make a similar item to any item listed here under commission unless it says otherwise in the description. I require 50% of the purchase price in advance and will give you an estimate delivery at that time. Please remember that many of the items you see here are made from "seasoned" wood and that process can take up to several months.
