Common Horsetail, Equisetum arvense. Wild-harvested in 2017. Gently washed and dried. Packed with love in food-grade plastic.
I hand-harvested this horsetail in clean, wild areas in NW Oregon. I gather it when it's fairly young and make sure that I am making minimal impact on the ecosystem, leaving plenty behind to continue growing. I then gently rinse the horsetail, dehydrate it, and store it in a cool, dark area to keep it fresh.
Horsetail is one of the oldest and most primitive plants on our planet, carrying with it lots of ancient wisdom. It is extremely high in silica, making it a wonderful ingredient in hair, skin, and beauty products. It is also used medicinally, often taken internally as a tea or tincture. I personally love to steep some into a tea (often mixed with nettle, lavender, and rosemary for added benefits) to use as an herbal hair rinse! It leaves my hair stronger, softer, and so shiny!
