Item details

This yarn has the classic soft handle of Alpaca in a blend of rich autumn colours; ideal for snug mittens or winter warming woolly hats. The design was inspired by the brilliant gold and red colours of our Japanese Acer trees last Autumn and the unexpected availability of a whole Alpaca fleece pushed the project onto the front burner.

Design & construction – Three colours of Alpaca, dyed as scoured locks, hand carded and blended on the blending board to produce relatively large lengths of each colour. The colour blend is approx. 2 parts autumn gold, one part acer red and one part bark brown. Spun as long period random single yarn and folded to make a 3 ply yarn.

Yarn type – Double knitting / Aran hand knitting yarn, approximately 165m per 100g.

Five hanks total weight 360g
