'Serrano' Chili Pepper Seeds. A very distinctive flavored hot pepper. This Serrano is not for the faint of heart, but is one of the most popular along the Mexico border. Used in many Latin dishes to step up the heat! The plant grows 30 to 36 inches tall and bears thin-walled, 2 inch long by 1/2 inch wide, slender fruits that turn red when reaching maturity. Prolific and ever-bearing. Scoville heat units: 5,000 – 23,000. (medium-hot to hot)

When to start indoors: 8 to 10 weeks before transplanting outside. Ideal soil temperature for germination is 70°‒90°F. Transplant seedlings outside 2 to 4 weeks after average last frost, and when daytime temperatures are at least 70°F, and nighttime temperatures are at least 55°F.
Harvesting: Serranos may be harvested either green or red. When harvesting, take care to avoid touching the interior of any broken peppers, as the capsaicin is an extreme irritant, especially to the eyes.
