Item details

This is a gorgeous fabric. It is 36 inches wide and is sold by the yard. It is not cut until bought, so multiple yards will be continuous. I wish the color would show up exact. It is a rusty coral. I cannot get it to photograph exactly. The first picture is really close to the correct color. The others are to show the detail of the weaving. The weave has a texture to it that is wonderful to touch. It would work well for any home decor project, bags, light weight jacket or heavy apparel. It is 100% cotton. IIt has a natural, organic look to it. It also looks a bit darker than it is in the photographs.

This fabric was hand woven on a treadle loom in the highlands of Guatemala by an expert weaver. The weave is regular and perfectly executed. The fabric is wonderful to touch. It has a great feel to it and the colors are rich and earthy. I am always amazed at the talent of the Mayan weavers!!

Additional policies

All the fabrics on this site are 100% cotton hand-dyed and hand-woven in Guatemala. The regular fabric is 36 inches wide. The fabric is not cut until you buy it. When you order multiple yards, you'll receive your fabric in a continuous piece.

Since these fabrics are hand woven there might be slight imperfections. These are characteristics that make the fabric stand out from machine made fabrics.

The corte pieces are different widths. The width of each one is in the description.

Fabrics should be prewashed before sewing with them. Edges of the fabric should be zigzagged to prevent fraying. Fabrics should be washed with like colors in the washing machine on the gently cycle with a warm wash. In order to ensure that colors don’t run, add 1 teaspoon of the fixative, Retayne, for every yard of fabric. Remove fabric from the machine right after the final spin cycle. Dry in the dryer until damp dry using the coolest temperature. Fabric should then be hung up to finish drying.

Retayne can be ordered on-line from any number of sites such as Joanne’s or Amazon.
