Item details

This stunning piece of history dates back to 1880's so it's hard to believe it is still in such good condition and should rightly be a under glass in a museum.

There is signs of wear and tear on the box but all seven spools have seen very little to no use so there is well over 1,400yards (that's 1280.16 metres to us metric folk) of lace thread in this collection. The inside cover sheet is still attached but has rips and tears, please see photos.

Barbour's were founded in Ireland in 1784 by John Barbour and traded in fine threads for over 222 years. Sadly they closed the factory in Ireland in 2006.

I'm always on the hunt for vintage millinery materials so often come across many other joyous vintage finds that just make my heart sing. Not able to leave them behind I have taken to bringing them home, giving them love (only when needed) and now I want to share them with you.
