Sweet Dreams are cuddly, limbed babies that, when finished, are about 38cm tall and made to be weighted with millet. The body is constructed with velour or organic cotton in an array of colors. The face is so very peaceful. Skin fabric is top-of-the-line DeWitt Engel. Wool is used to plump the body and retains the body heat from the child lovingly hugging their baby!
In this class, participants will learn to properly stuff a body, make a firm head, embroider the face, make hands, stitch on bangs and a hat. Attendees will master ladder and running stitch, although it is highly recommended that practice of these stitches be attempted at home prior to the workshop. We will learn how to sew the hands and head to stay safely in place. Each person will be provided a sewn diaper that gets trimmed, turned, and finished during class. Please bring two safety pins to secure the diaper.
Colors Body: pink, lavender, sky blue, rose
Face: fair, light brown, brown
Several colors of hair will be available to choose from at the class.
What to bring: sharp scissors, a few needles, straight and safety pins, and 1 kilo of *prepared millet. Measuring tape optional.
To prepare millet, place in a shallow casserole dish and bake in the lowest setting in your oven for 30 minutes. Cool. Empty into a container.
Please note: we will not make clothing for this doll. A limited number of dresses and capes will be available for purchase at the workshop.
Children 8+ may register for this class with a fully registered adult.
I ship priority mail using USPS, which insures packages up to $50. Buyers are urged to purchase additional insurance or a signature requirement to cover and protect their package. I ship to the address that you provide. You will be sent a tracking number so that you can trace its movement from the time it departs Mimi's Designs until it arrives at your door.
For now, I accept PayPal. Tax is applied to all orders from Pennsylvania. Full payment is expected before making a custom order. Once completed, you will be provided a photograph to approve your order. Changes can be made at that time.
Returns & exchanges
If USPS loses or damages your item in transit, it is insured for a value up to $50. Please use your tracking number to file a claim directly with USPS. If USPS shows an item has been delivered but you haven't received it, perhaps it was left with a neighbor. Please speak with your mail carrier as Mimi's Designs is not responsible for items stolen or lost once marked delivered. Because of that, it is strongly advised that you consider purchasing "signature requirement" for $2.50. Your package will not be left at the door if it is delivered when you are not home, as you have to sign for it to take possession.
If you receive a custom order and find that your child doesn't take to it, we apologize but customs are non-refundable. Every opportunity is provided to describe the items as accurately as possible prior to your purchase. Items are made with additional specifications by the buyer. If you don't feel your intention was captured correctly, voice that before your order is shipped. If you receive a custom order and it isn't perfect for your family -- perhaps it is too heavy -- it may be possible to determine a solution.
If there is a quality issue -- stitches have come undone without excessive play, for instance, repairs will be made free of charge. If heavy play caused seams to open, hair to fall off, etc. contact Mimi's Designs for a quote to repair such damage.
Exchanges are possible after a thorough discussion and inspection of the returned item. No refund or exchange will be given for dolls that have been mishandled, are stained, etc.
Time is carved out for each order and customer. This time is precious to a doll maker as each doll is unique - just like your child.
I do make special custom orders, personalize items and on occasion, sell wholesale in quantities. Please ask!
