Beautiful Soft Creamy White Tsumugi Silk from an unused kimono bolt sold by the yard. Gorgeous rich cream silk medium weight, strong, slub-textured. It gives off a very slight shimmer typical of tsumugi silk. 100% silk off the bolt. This is a wonderful find and makes me itch to create!!! If I wasn't chasing a 3 year old and was able to sit still long enough I would be keeping this one. For now I will live vicariously through all of your creative adventures.
This unused dead stock vintage bolt dates back to about the 1970's - 1980's.
It will turn any project into a work of art.
Perfect for fashion, home decor, craft projects and interior design.
Tsumugi: is a silk fabric woven from the floss remaining in the silkworm cocoon after the full threads have been removed. By spinning these broken strands together silkworm farmers created a fabric for their own use. Today tsumugi is highly prized and one of the most expensive kimono fabrics despite its humble origins. Initially tsumugi fabric is very stiff, due to the starch applied during spinning, but the more times it is worn and washed, the softer it becomes.
