"Bird of Paradise" is a cloth bird pattern in PDF form. The bird is about 12 inches long, with an additional 18 inches of tail feathers (30 inches total). This bird is part soft sculpture and part quilt. You can make a phoenix, peacock, or an original design of your own.
Included with the pattern are 2 different wings -- a set of "flying wings" (wired to keep their shape) and a "folded" set. The bird's head is separate, so you can pose it looking at any direction. You can perch it on a candlestick, or string it up to hang over your work table. "Bird of Paradise" can be made of colorful cotton, glitzy metallics, or satin brocades. Plus, many opportunities for bead work!
This pattern requires an intermediate skill in doll making, applique work, and quilting.
It was a PDF file and I was able to print it out quickly. I plan to put this on a jacket for a friend of mine. Arley's patterns are very easy to work with as his instructions are very clear. I love all of his patterns and have quite a few of them.
