One morning several years ago, my friend Linda - an organic citrus farmer and artist, awoke to some raucous screaming! Bounding outta bed, she discovered a group of Peacocks had found her hilltop home to their liking. She was intrigued at first, but the novelty wore off when she observed they were devouring the plants surrounding her home. To avert that calamity, she had to start feeding them with 25lb bags of dog food, not to mention having to watch where she steps, not to mention dropped shed and moulted feathers EVERYWHERE!!!
What is a girl to do? Numerous people have tried to catch them and haul them away but the birds are too smart! So we are making the best of a bad situation by selling the feathers. One of the photos shows the original bundle of feathers on my patio. Other photos show them in the process of being sanitized, in various stages of drying, and being sorted. They have been sorted and resorted, according to their size and appearance. These feathers look like they have been trimmed on top of the eye, but it is a natural phenomenon.
Peacock feathers are used in Arts, Crafts, Flower Arranging, Mixed Media and many other applications. I have seen them embedded in oil and acrylic paintings. Please let me know in the BUYER NOTES if you prefer the LARGE OR SMALL EYES WITHOUT THE TOP FRINGE. If no preference is noted, a mix of large and small will be sent.
