This beautiful yarn is comprised of 100% naturally-raised mohair from my farm in Virginia, where I pasture raise my angora goats using organic and holistic practices. All of my animals are lovingly raised and humanely sheared. This yarn was shorn from my goats, washed in an all-natural, plant based soap, then the locks were separated and fluffed and handspun by me. :)
This yarn is a soft, balanced 2-ply yarn in an easy to work bulky weight at approximately 8 to 10 WPI. It is spun from the lock, so it has a lovely, rustic texture to it, but plenty of shine as well! Mohair is such a unique fiber and in this yarn I have highlighted some of the curls and wave from the beautiful locks! It has a wonderful weight and drapes beautifully and is hugably soft! This is an enormous skein at 15.25 oz (nearly a pound!) and 225 yards in length, giving a long, continuous strand of yarn.
This yarn is comprised of the natural colors that represent the different animals in my herd. The colors range from white to taupe to silver with some light grays and reds as well. It is beautiful in it's natural color, but also takes dye readily -- the variety of color would produce a lovely gradient effect when dyed. This would make beautiful shawls, wraps, scarves, hats, blankets, gloves, boot cuffs, trim, fringe, tassels and more. Whatever you make, you won't be disappointed!
Each skein weighs approximately 15.25 ounces and measures approximately 225 yards.
This yarn is stored in a pet- and smoke-free environment.
Hand wash finished objects in cold water, lay flat to dry.
