5 Vintage Rubber Stamps, French Post Office, Places. Circa 1940's
Please use the red more button for the full description.
I would imagine looking at the condition of these vintage stamps, that they were a failed initiative by some person high up in the French Post office who thought it would be a good idea for staff in the post offices, to have stamps with place names on them. Not practical, imagine having to sift through hundreds of these to find the one with the place you wanted on it.
I suspect that is why these are in such good condition.
As they are old French Post office supplies the place names are in French.
They date from the 1940's
They are all the same height but the metal and rubber printing plate size varies according to the length of the name on it.
Height approx 2.1/4 inches.
Shown printed out.
Great for any vintage desk to add that touch of authenticity. Or one could replace the place name with a word or name of your own if you make rubber stamps.
Postage is from France so it may take longer than you are used to.
