Item details

This listing is intended to be purchased along with a frame from my shop - please do not purchase it on its own! This is for a mat that fits inside of a frame, and can be ordered with an opening or without.

The size refers to the exterior dimensions of the mat and should be the same size as the frame that you have purchased.

Select the color - you can choose from Cool White, Warm White, Off White, Cream, Beige, Gray, or Black.

In the comments section of the order, please specify what the interior measurements of the matting should be. These should cover the edges of the item that is being installed in the mat. The mat should slightly overlap the edges of your piece - about 1/8" to 1/4" all around. If you're not sure what or how to measure, please feel free to contact me.

I will also include a piece of an acid-free tape, and your mat will be installed in your frame along with a detailed instruction sheet. Thank you!

FAQs

Traditionally, you choose the frame size based on the dimensions of your picture. If you have a 4x6 picture, you buy a 4x6 frame, and it will have a 4x6 opening in the back that holds your glass, picture and backing. From the front, however, you will see a little less, as the lip of the frame covers approximately 1/4" of the image all the way around. If you have an image where you're worried about covering too much of the edge, feel free to message me. I can create what is known as a SIGHT OPENING which will be cut to cover only 1/16" of the image all the way around - this should ensure that you don't see any of the backing material. For these, please note that you should purchase the next size up. Otherwise, there is no additional charge.

I'm happy to include a mat in your frame, but I do not sell mats on their own. Please visit this section to add one to your order - https://www.etsy.com/shop/AllForShowFraming?section_id=18880661 In general, you want a mat that is at least 1-1/2" inches wide, and 2" inches or more is generally more pleasing. For a 4x6 or 5x7 picture, you'd want an 8x10 frame and mat. For an 8x10 picture, you'd want a 12x14 frame. Feel free to message me if you need help making your selection.

I absolutely make custom sized frames, and at no additional charge! I'll usually have you purchase your desired style of frame in the size nearest to what you need (rounded up). For example, if you need a 12x14 to accommodate a matted 8x10 print, you'd purchase the 12x16 frame and mat. If you need a 4x10 frame, that that prices the same as a 6x8. If you need a 13-3/4 x 19-1/2, you'd purchase the 16x20. As always, though, if you're not sure about what you need, feel free to message me! I'm always happy to help.

I sure can, but I can't necessarily ship it. The largest size frame I'm willing to ship - WITH glass - is 18x24 or 20x20. The largest size frame I'm willing to ship - WITHOUT glass - is 20x24 or 24x24. I do not offer Plexiglas, nor will I ship any frame larger than the sizes stated here. All that being said, if you're willing to do a local pickup in Chicago (60647), then I can make any size frame you want! Message me for pricing.
