Item details

These budget holders are as well-made as my exotic holders but with domestic locally-sourced walnut. I didn't need to use any dyes or stains, just 5 clear coats of lacquer that allow the natural color and grain pattern to show through. I have three different grip ends to choose from here, each light weight with good balance and classic design. Pens 1 and 3 have a sleek tapered finial while pen 2 has a small turned finial with copper inlay in the end.

Two of the flanges are made of hand formed brass with my maker's mark and one of stainless steel. The brass is easier to bend than the stainless steel but each can hold a large variety of nibs with just a slight adjustment that you can make to the curvature. The flanges are permanently and stably set at a slight upward angle for the best upstrokes and flourishes. They all come ready to write with a Hiro 41 nib included.

Length: 7.43"
Width at finger grip: Pens 1,2: 0.375" Pen 3: 0.437"
Width at widest part of grip: All 0.625"
Width of tail: All: 0.187"

I hope you enjoy this all-wood selection of walnut pens. They were crafted with care for your beautiful writing.

FAQs

I am not currently taking any custom orders. Feel free to make suggestions of what you would like to see in my shop but if you have design or time restrictions, I'm not able to take them right now.

Never leave a wood pen to soak in water. Wipe it off with a damp cloth and dry it well. Also avoid using cleaning products with ammonia which can damage the finish of the pen. When you dip the pen in ink, only allow the nib to submerse in the ink and not the entire flange. If ink dries inside the flange, it can be hard to remove the nib. Keep your custom pen out of direct sunlight and treat it with care.
