Experience the joy of creating your own cards. This Kit comes with all of the materials you need to create a card for any occasion
This sewing kit is designed to enable you to have a go at a relaxing, hand stitched traditional Japanese design. It saves you having to buy the skein of Sashiko cotton thread and a pack of needles. It enables you to turn your creations into two unique greeting cards. You could of course use your stitched design to repair clothing Boro style or to frame them.
The Japanese word Sashiko means "little stabs" and refers to the small stitches used in this form of needlework. Traditional sashiko uses indigo dyed fabric and white sashiko thread whilst designs usually come from nature, such as this leaf pattern. The Asanoha pattern is one of the most popular traditional patterns often seen on Japanese kimono. Asanoha means: Asa = hemp: no = of: ha = leaf. The regular geometric pattern, though abstract, represents hemp leaves. The wives of merchants would wear it, to bring good fortune to the wearer. Because hemp was known for its rapid growth, the pattern was often used for the clothes of newborn children. Your card would make an special new baby, or baby shower card.

I run textile art workshops, but not everyone is near enough to me, or can spare a half day to craft together, so this is my way of enabling you, or someone you wish to gift this kit to, to experience the benefits creativity with slow stitching.

Buying online can be hard. A photograph isn't like seeing art on a wall, or feeling the texture or quality of cloth. I try to photograph my work to present a good likeness. I'm always happy to provide more shots or answer questions.
