Honey Bear is a sweet ewe and hers was the first fleece I fell in love with. It is very soft and has a nice sheen. A spinners dream fleece. She is a Romney/Montadale/Suffolk/Columbia mix, with at least 50% Romney. She has nice variegation, from silver to dark grey. The fleece has been skirted twice to remove most of the vm and any unusable sections. The weight of this fleece is 6.8 lbs.
Our flock of Romney and Romney cross sheep produce a long lustrous fleece. The crimp of their wool is uniform from the butt to the tip of a lock. Romney wool has the finest fiber diameter of all the longwool breeds. Romneys also have a low grease content so the raw weight isn't too different from the washed weight.
