This fiber is a bright cream/tan/red color with a satin sheen. It's from Torch Light, our very first buck, and our only Satin Angora rabbit. The satin Angora is just a bit "shiny" and a little more slick than other Angora fibers. The fiber has a good staple length and is easy to work with. Worked alone or blended with other fibers, it will elevate anything you make to the next level of opulence! Spin it, or felt it, either way you'll love it!
There isn't any way to fully describe how wonderfully divine Angora fiber is! It's so light and airy, warmer and softer than wool or Alpaca, it dries remarkably fast, and it's pure joy to work with. Handling the fiber really is like holding a cloud! When I spin it, it feels comforting to my hands and my soul.
We brush, comb, and hand pick the fiber as the rabbits are shedding. They enjoy the attention very much, and are never hurt or stressed in the process. The cloud is completely raw - it went straight from the rabbit to the bag. It doesn't need to be washed before using, as rabbits are very clean and oil free! You may find an occasional tiny bit of VM in the fiber, as our rabbits are allowed to run and play outside.
The last two pictures show a skein of 100% Angora and the yarn in the process of being knitted. You can see how the Angora "blooms" as you work with it. Purely delightful! (skein and knitting not for sale ;))
