Item details

Original design 3D Printed Spindle

A dealgan (pronounced "JELLeggin") is a simple spindle that was used in Northern Scotland and by Canadian (and probably US) settlers on the East coast. Wrapping on is a little different than most spindles and produces a tidy (more or less) center pull ball.

These combine the best of 2 types of spindles. A pre-wound ball AND the same ball-bearing tip that gives my other support spindles a long, smooth spin. The bigger the ball I put on these, the better they spin.

*Total length: 6 1/4" (15.8 cm)
*Shaft Diameter: 11/32" (9mm)
*Whorl Diameter: 1 11/64" (30mm)
*Weight: ~0.9 oz (21 grams) Differences in color, manufacturer, and the mood of the printer at the time can cause about 10% variations in weight.

Care instructions
-Wipe clean with a damp cloth.
-Protect from high temperatures. PLA becomes flexible at about 140 degrees Fahrenheit (60 degrees Celsius). A parked car will easily get to that temperature, as will most dishwashers. Generally speaking, it's a comfortable temperature for you, it's a comfortable temperature for your spindle.
-Not dishwasher safe.
-Handle gently. These items aren't fragile, but they ARE still plastic, and they will bend/warp/break if you use them as drumsticks, door stops, coat hangers, etc.

Shipping:
-I'll usually have your package in the mail within 1-2 business days - I'll let you know of any unexpected delays.
-Tracking and insurance are included on Canadian packages.
-Outside of Canada, tracking and insurance are available for an additional charge. Please message me for an exact quote. I cannot take responsibility for lost or damaged items that are not insured.
-I ship via Canada Post, but I can use an alternate shipping method such as bus, courier, or meeting somewhere local for coffee, if you prefer.

Not intended for unsupervised children. Small parts can choke, broken parts may be very sharp. Running with spindles is discouraged. Even if there's yummy fiber ahead. :) Keep away from fire. It's plastic. It will melt and burn. While PLA is considered to be one of the safest plastics and is made from natural products and is reputed to be "compostable in a commercial facility", some of my products have a lacquer coating that is not biodegradable. Even if there is no lacquer present, PLA requires extremely high temperatures that very few home compost bins reach. Please do not spin while operating a motor vehicle. Fiber arts is a highly addictive activity. Please spin responsibly.

Under certain circumstances, I will accept cash and e-transfer payments. Please contact me to arrange before your purchase.
