This listing: 8 beige skeins of London company Wool and the Gang's Mixtape, an 80/20 blend of cotton and polyester made from upcycled t-shirt scraps! WATG describes it as similar to shoelaces in that the yarn is actually flat (think of it as a hollow tube), but you knit with it just as you would any normal yarn.
The textural effect is really cool and looks especially awesome in any kind of basketweave or moss stitch. In a tighter stitch, it makes amazing knit and crochet handbags and housewares (pillows and bowls), and with larger needles it produces gorgeous, netted garments like beach cover ups and summer weight sweaters. Also fun for weaving and macrame!
One of the beige skeins is missing its paper but unused; another has been caked and is missing a couple of yards from a tiny swatch I once did. I show weights of these in all my photos.
What you can make with it:
Two of Wands' Cloaked in Clouds Poncho (and it's a free pattern!): https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/cloaked-in-clouds-poncho
Wool and the Gang's Carrie on Tote: https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/carrie-on-tote
This yarn retails for $13 a skein. I'm selling the entire lot for $65.
AND - I have the crochet pattern for Wool and the Gang's Carrie On Tote (requires four skeins of Mix Tape) and the accompanying red leather handles that I will include FOR FREE with this order. The pattern retails for $12 and the straps for $14, so THAT is a super deal! ;)
Note: Like all crazy knitters, I have a STASH. And sometimes, even my really, really good stuff has to be cleaned out a bit to keep my family and I sane. You can benefit from my de-stashing with some seriously steep discounts, as I'll occasionally post items for sale here on Etsy, with reasonable shipping within the US!
Please read descriptions carefully, as the yarn is always in excellent condition, but some details may vary (in the skein vs. wound or caked, etc). I keep my yarn stored out of the light, in plastic bags, in my smoke-free home. I encourage everyone to check Ravelry for details on each individual yarn if you're curious to get more details about the manufacturer, samples of what it looks like knit into projects, other pictures of the colorway, etc.!
